QUEENSBURY – The organizers of a community blood drive in Queensbury are celebrating a successful fundraiser that carried a special message.

Staff from Marshall & Sterling insurance company in Scotia say they were inspired by a woman with local ties, who needed two pints of blood a day when she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Anjelica Zingarino passed away nearly a year ago. She was a brewer at Common Roots in South Glens Falls. The brewery helped sponsor the event by donating a pint of beer to every blood donor.

Marshall & Sterling says the event quickly filled up several weeks beforehand, and they now plan to turn this drive into an annual event.
