A man from Colonie was on the front lines right after the bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon in 2013.

Boston Firefighter Jimmy Plourde was captured in a photo as he carried a young woman away from the chaos. She’s injured and needs medical attention.

Her name was Victoria McGrath. McGrath, who was 20 at the time, survived these injuries, but sadly, died in a car crash three years later.

The connection she formed with Plourde lives on.

His wife ran the marathon on Monday in honor of McGrath.

Hear Plourde’s memories of that day in 2013 – 10 years later – and why he says he doesn’t like the photo he’s captured in as part of history – by watching Subrina Dhammi’s story.
