The Albany County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 12-year-old boy in Voorheesville, after he allegedly said he would shoot students in the head if he was allowed to carry his book bag into the school.
The 7th grader at Voorheesville Middle School is now charged with making a threat of mass harm.
The school district sent out an e-mail about the threat on Wednesday.
The student was issued an appearance ticket and is set to appear at Albany County Probation next month.
“We take these reports very seriously and all safety protocols and procedures were followed and the matter was dealt with promptly,” said Voorheesville Superintendent Frank Macri, in a statement. “We encourage everyone to continue to report concerns to school administration and if you see or hear something, say something.”
