Boy, 12, in Schenectady charged with threatening to shoot school

A 12-year-old boy in Schenectady is accused of threatening to shoot up a school.

The boy was arrested on Monday for allegedly making the threat on Snapchat, police said.

Police traced the threat through an IP address.

A gun in the home was given to police for safekeeping. Police say a parent voluntarily gave it to them, and the boy did not have it.

The boy is now charged with making a terroristic threat.
