BPD charges three for Home Depot theft

Three people are facing charges after a theft at a Bennington Home Depot.

Police say a man was seen leaving the store Friday without paying for items, and that he refused to stop when approached by a store employee.  

Police say an off-duty officer saw this, and followed him out to a car that was waiting in the parking lot.
The driver to stop, and say the officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being run over when she didn’t. The Bennington officer was dragged the length of the store parking lot.

Now, Jonathan Sprowson and Hailey Smith from North Adams, both face multiple charges including aggravated assault of a police officer and felony retail theft.

30 year old Rebecca Luczynski, also from North Adams, is the accused getaway driver. She also faces charges, including felony possession of stolen property and aggravated assault of a police officer.
