A state of emergency has been issued in New Lebanon, Columbia County, after a dam broke loose.

NewsChannel 13 has learned the beaver dam broke in the Pittsfield State Forest in Berkshire County, spilling water into a nearby pond. That pond overflowed, sending water rushing down the mountain into the town.

A large portion of the town has been flooded.

Many residents are reporting one to three feet of water in their basements.

There is also mud and debris on Main Street.

The New York State Department of Transportation is there. FEMA may also be called in.
