Broken National Grid pole zaps power to 400+ Rotterdam customers

A National Grid electric pole broke in Rotterdam and caused several other poles to fall.
It happened around 3:10 Tuesday afternoon, around the area of Altamont Avenue at Rensselaer Avenue.
Police were responding to reports of an electric pole that looked damaged, and just after officers arrived, that pole broke, they said.
Altamont Avenue between Crane Street and Amsterdam Avenue was shut down.
National Grid says 439 homes and businesses lost power.
