A veteran-owned business in Rensselaer is closing its doors.

Café Twelve 04 on Washington Avenue is shutting down. Owner Chris Phelan made the announcement on Facebook Thursday morning.

It has become too hard to compete with big businesses and with drive-thru windows, Phelan.

The café first opened in August of last year. The café’s last day will be this Sunday, Oct. 29.
