Cambridge-Greenwich police chief suspended with pay after arrest

The Cambridge-Greenwich police chief has been suspended with pay after he was arrested following a domestic incident.

Mayor Carman Bogle made the announcement following a closed-door meeting of the village board on Thursday.

NewsChannel 13 was first to report Robert Danko’s arrest on Wednesday night. He is accused of unlawful imprisonment and harassment. The charges related to an altercation he had last month with a woman he is familiar with.

The purpose of the leave is so information can be gathered and reviewed, Bogle said.

“The conduct complained of did not occur while the Chief was at work and while this is a private matter between the Chief and [the victim], the Village has taken this action so that the legal process can proceed, and the Department can continue to operate,” she said in the statement.

She said the village would not be commenting further as it is a personnel matter.

The statement did not say who would be running the department during Danko’s suspension.
