Canajoharie man allegedly made terroristic threats
State Police have arrested a Canajoharie man for allegedly making threats to public officials, police and others.
Justin B. Oconnor, 54, is accused of using social media to make the threats, according to police. They were also against “protected groups of people,” which refer to discrimination based on disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, gender reassignment, national origin, or other factors.
Police obtained a temporary extreme risk protection order, which resulted in seizure of weapons including an illegally possessed gun, body armor and multiple illegal high-capacity magazines.
O’Connor was charged with making a terrorist threat, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful purchase of body armor.
The FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force assisted in the investigation.
He was arraigned at Canajoharie Town Court on Wednesday, Sept. 25 and sent to Montgomery County Jail in lieu of bail set at $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond or $60,000 partially secured bond.
