The CDC says cancer is a leading cause of death among firefighters.

Many of the chemicals firefighters encounter and inhale, are known or suspected to cause the disease.

Today, free screenings will be given to Albany firefighters, thanks to Capital Region Urology, which is a practice of Saint Peter’s Health Partners.

The screenings are scheduled from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

There will be ultrasound technology on site to check for a variety of cancers and other health issues.
