Circle of Giving at Capital District Latinos

Capital District Latino's is helping struggling families during the holiday's.

Albany, N.Y.- It’s an act of both giving and receiving at Capital District Latinos.

With demand for food high during the holidays, NewsChannel 13 Producer, Jolie Santiago visited the organization to speak with people of all backgrounds who rely on Capital District Latinos. She also spoke with employees of the organization who, at one time, also needed a helping hand.

“It can be beautiful when you help others to lift up their lives,” said Columbian immigrant José Luis Gonzalez, who is now a consultant for Capital District Latinos.

“Many times, we do not understand the circumstances of other families,” he said. “Thanks to Capital District Latinos, they are able to organize their lives here in the United States.”

“I like them because they are not just an organization that provides food,” Mercedes Peña, a current client of Capital District Latinos. “They focus on basic necessities that you may have like clothing and nutrition. If you need to talk to someone, they offer that as well.

Donations help Capital District Latinos provide food and support events like their upcoming Three King’s Day, a popular Hispanic tradition to close out the holiday season.
