Capital Region honoring veterans at various events during Memorial Day weekend
This Memorial Day weekend, events around the Capital Region are honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving our country.

Rensselaer’s parade will be held Sunday.
Opening ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Forbes Avenue.
The parade will begin at two o’clock and end at the intersection of Third Avenue and Walker Street.
Albany’s annual Memorial Day parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, from the corner of Central Avenue and Ontario Street.
It will then proceed east on Central Avenue and continue east on Washington Avenue to Hawk Street.
There will be a traditional Memorial Day service and a wreath laying ceremony in Lafayette Park immediately following the parade.
Watervliet’s Memorial Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m.
It will start at Watervliet High School and proceed east on 19th Street and south on Second Avenue.
It will end at Veterans Park, where the city’s annual Memorial Day service will take place.
And in Pittsfield – the annual Memorial Day parade will begin at 9 a.m.
The lineup will take place at the intersection of Fenn and Allen Streets, then proceed to North Street, and head north to Wahconah Street.
It will end at Pittsfield cemetery where a ceremony will follow.
The event will include a reading of the names of Pittsfield veterans who passed away over the past year.
