A man has died after being hit by a car on Central Avenue in Colonie.

The crash happened just after 11:30 Monday morning near Elmwood Street.

The victim, Joseph Crandall, 62, was wearing high visibility clothing and riding on the correct side of the road, but didn’t have a helmet, investigators said. However, the driver still didn’t see him.

Crandall was pronounced dead at the scene. No criminal charges are expected, police said.

The road was closed for a time, but has since reopened.
