Clifton Park man gets 10 years in prison for coercing minor for sex
A Clifton Park was sentenced on Thursday to 10 years in prison for attempting to meet someone who he believed was a 12-year-old girl for sex.
Michael Kirkland, 30, had previously pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court. He admitted that on Aug. 11, 2022, he exchanged sexually explicit text messages with a person he believed was offering the sexual services of a 12-year-old girl. He then traveled to a hotel in Saratoga County to meet with the girl, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
He was arrested by police after arriving at the location, police said.
Kirkland also will be required to serve 10 years of post-release supervision and register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
