Cobleskill man charged in rape investigation

A Cobleskill man is in the Schoharie County Jail, accused of rape.
Robert Whitbeck Jr., 49, physically and sexually assaulted the victim multiple times in fall of 2022, investigators said.
The assaults happened in Cobleskill and Schoharie, according to investigators.
The Schoharie County Family Court issued a full restraining order for the victim, which police say Whitbeck Jr. violated at least 14 times.
He is now facing a list of charges – including rape, criminal sexual act, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal obstruction of breathing among others.
