Cohoes dad, son finish climbing 46 High Peaks in Adirondacks
A father and son from Cohoes just entered an elite club together. Eric Galarneau and his son, Logan, climbed all 46 High Peaks together, making them Adirondack 46ers.
They were a team on a mission and novices to hiking.
Logan Galarneau was just 12 when he had the idea to go big by climbing the higher mountains and exploring.
The pair endured 3 a.m. wake-up calls to get to the mountain by 5 a.m., and they completed their goal in just 13 months.
Logan missed a couple of days of school and had to make up some tests and quizzes, but he said he learned some valuable lessons on the mountains, like perseverance.
This past Saturday, the peak of Whiteface Mountain was the end of their 13-month adventure. The rest of their family was able to drive up and join them.
