Cohoes police: Man caught red-handed in drug deal

A man is in the Albany County jail after police say he was caught making a drug deal, then tried to run away from police and get rid of the drugs.

Cohoes police they caught 45-year-old Phillip Harris of Troy in the middle of a drug deal on Remsen Street near Cayuga Plaza. They say he gave them a fake name when officers approached him.

Police say Harris then tried to run away and threw a bag on top of a nearby building. That bag had nearly 15 grams of cocaine, police said.

Harris faces two felony charges and three misdemeanors. Police also say he’s a five-time convicted felon.
