Colonie Police arrest three on drug charges

Colonie traffic stop leads to drug charges for East Greenbush man

An East Greenbush man is facing several charges after a traffic stop. David Slurff, 51, was stopped on Loudon Road in Colonie Monday evening.

A vehicle blocking a handicapped access space led police to the arrest of three people for allegedly possessing drugs in Colonie.

Officers were patrolling the Albany Airport Inn (former SureStay Hotel) on Wolf Road and saw the vehicle. Officers interviewed Stephen E. Johnson, of Albany, and found narcotics and loaded Glock 22 handgun, according to Colonie Police.

Johnson did not have a valid pistol permit for the gun, which police said was stolen in 2017 from New York Shooter Supply. Officers then obtained a warrant to search Room 251 of the hotel and found fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and other drugs.

Johnson was facing drug and gun charges. Jaylene E. Brown, of South Glens Falls and Craig C. Heerlein, 35, of Whitehall, were arrested in connection to the drugs found in the motel room.

Johnson was sent without bail to Albany County Jail pending a preliminary hearing. Heerlein was released under the supervision of probation, and Brown was released on her own recognizance.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Colonie Police at 518-783-2754 or Crimestoppers at 1-833-ALB-TIPS.
