The Colonie Police Department has identified the person killed in a deadly crash on Central Ave.

David Herskind, 49, was named the victim in the crash happened that just before midnight on Saturday. A Ford F-150 was driving westbound on Central Avenue when it hit the pedestrian, said Colonie Police. The driver immediately stopped and called 911. Colonie EMS arrived shortly after, but the victim died at the scene.

Police say speed or driver impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. Herskind was in the vehicle lane of travel at the time of the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video footage of the crash is asked to contact investigators with the Colonie Police Department.
