Columbia County announces presumed case of monkeypox

Columbia County has a presumed case of monkeypox.

If confirmed, this would mark the third monkeypox case in the Capital Region, after cases in Greene and Albany counties were announced earlier this week.

The Columbia County Health Department says they were already planning for this. They are working to get in touch with any contacts the affected person may have had.

Monkeypox is usually mild, but not getting treatment can result in hospitalization or death.
