Cooling center opens at MVP Arena
MVP Arena has been opened as a cooling center because of the hot temperatures.
The arena at 51 South Pearl St. will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Libraries have been used as cooling centers, but they are closed for the Juneteenth holiday.
Splash pads areĀ also open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the following parks: Black Lives Matter Park, Colonie St. Park, Hackett Park, Lincoln Park, North Swan Street Park, Rosemont Park, Sheridan Park and Westland Hills Park.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan is urging residents to take precautions to avoid the heat and be vigilant for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
