Cops: Hudson man broke into Brunswick business

A Hudson man is facing charges for allegedly breaking into a Brunswick business.

State Police responded to a report of a burglary at a business on Hoosick Road. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time. With the assistance of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation determined that 52-year-old James H. Smith was responsible for the burglary, according to a news release.

In addition, Smith allegedly attempted to break into a nearby closed restaurant with a burglary tool but wasn’t able to gain entry.  

Smith was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and petit larceny. He was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
