Cops: Rensselaer man broke into Chinese restaurants in Delmar

A Rensselaer man is accused of breaking into two Chinese restaurants in Delmar.

John Whiteford, 41, allegedly burglarized the Great Wall Chinese Kitchen at 392 Kenwood Ave. in Delmar and Empire Wok at 159 Delaware Avenue on Aug. 13, according to a news release.

Whiteford has been charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of petit larceny.

He was arraigned in Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail due to his prior criminal history. Whiteford is also currently on parole. A preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 19 in Bethlehem Town Court.
