A record number of toilet paper rolls were collected for an annual charity drive. Now it’s all in the hands of those who need it.

First New York Federal Credit Union distributed 12,000 rolls to Catholic Charities on Thursday.

This drive was started after organizers learned you can’t buy personal care products using snap benefits.

“That may not sound like much to many people, but for the people we serve at Catholic Charities Tri-County Services – for our five food pantries, and our two soup kitchens – it’s a huge deal! Can you imagine not having toilet paper? It’s a necessity for sure,” said Jenn Hyde, with Catholic Charities Tri-County Services.

The organizations have been collecting toilet paper since 2016.
