“The Fortunatos Witch Mafia” puts a supernatural and female spin to movies like “Goodfellas”.

Set in the 1970s, three Italian witch sisters lead their family’s illegal organization. Eva Jette Putrello, who plays Serafina, told NewsChannel 13 a little bit about her character.

“In this TV pilot, she’s trying to find herself. But little does she know – she’s a witch,” said Putrello.
Producers wanted to film in a location with a lot of history in the Capital Region, and landed on De Fazio’s Pizza.

“We always like to look home, not just for selfish reasons but because we feel like we have everything to offer,” producer Ann Marie Lizzi explained.

The pilot was written, produced, and directed by women.

“The Capital Region is such a fantastic place to shoot. We have lots of different looks in close proximity. That’s what makes it so appealing, “ Executive Producer Ann Marie Lizzi said.

The show is not the only thing on this first run in the television industry.

Tre Victoria, who plays Leon in the show, is from Upstate New York and this is his first acting job.

“It’s exciting, but at first it was really nerveracking. I felt like I was going to mess up a lot, but I knew I couldn’t overthink it,” Victoria said.

“The Fortunatos Witch Mafia” wraps up filming on August 4. The show is expected to be on streaming services in 2023.
