New evidence just uncovered by police has led to the adjournment of a hit-and-run trial scheduled to start Tuesday.

John Lincoln-Lynch is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal crash in South Glens Falls. The crash killed Paul Trombley in February 2022.

Jury selection was set to start Tuesday.

NewsChannel 13 has learned state police investigators were recently able to decipher the contents of Lincoln-Lynch’s phone from the night of the crash. His attorney has asked for more time to interpret that information.

A new trial date has not been set.

Trombley was a beloved teacher and coach.

Lincoln-Lynch could be sentenced to up to 2 1/3 to seven years in prison.

He turned down an offer that would send him to prison for a minimum of one to three years and a maximum of four-and-a-half years.
