Canadian wildfires continue to give Capital Region worst air in decades
Gov. Kathy Hochul is urging New Yorkers to stay inside, and recommending school districts cancel outdoor activities.
It comes as a blanket of thick, smoky haze covered the Capital Region for another day on Wednesday.
The smoke is coming from wildfires in Quebec.
An air quality alert – which was supposed to expire Wednesday at midnight – has been extended to Thursday at midnight.
