The state Department of Environmental Conservation wants to hear the public’s opinion on wetlands across the state.

DEC is considering regulations that would increase protections for freshwater wetlands. Officials said they want to guard water quality and wildlife habitats.

The DEC is accepting comments until Feb. 19.
