Discover Albany announced plans for a new Halloween festival coming to Albany in Fall 2023.
“Albany’s All-Hallow e’en Festival” will be a modern twist on the original Halloween festival celebrated annually in Albany over a hundred years ago. In 1904 and 1905, the festival drew between 50,000 to 100,000 people into the city.
Maeve McEneny-Johnson, Community Engagement Manger at Discover Albany, says the plans for the festival were made possible by $282,200 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds awarded to Discover Albany and their partner organizations through the City of Albany’s ‘Albany for All’ initiative.
The festival will take place in fall of 2023 and will be a month-long celebration with programming from Discover Albany, In Our Own Voices, Albany Center Gallery, Capital Repertory Theater, the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District and the City of Albany.
“We’re resurrecting it, bringing some modern sensibilities to it,” McEneny-Johnson said. “We really believe that we will be a Halloween destination to rival all the Halloween destinations.”
Organizations interested in getting involved with the festival can reach out to Discover Albany to discuss partnership opportunities.
