The Capital Region has 45 new police officers. They graduated Monday from what’s known as the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Academy in Schenectady.

The students trained for 27 weeks before graduation, the academy’s director said. They represented multiple agencies across the Capital Region, including Amsterdam police, Coeymans, Colonie, Saratoga Police and Sheriff’s, and Troy among others.

The next group is currently being trained. The hope is to have more graduates in early August.
