A Lake Luzerne community is divided over an upcoming story hour, because a drag queen will read to the kids.

The event is planned for Saturday, April 15 at Rockwell Falls Public Library.

A Facebook post about it has hundreds of split comments.

Speaking during public comments at a recent library board meeting, one person said they were worried it would “groom” the kids into unnecessarily questioning their sexuality and gender identity, NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Post-Star reported.

Another person said it’s no more “grooming” than having someone from the military read to them.

A formal request to cancel the event was filed, the paper reported. The library will make a final determination before Saturday.
