Mayfield drowning claims life of brewery founder

One of the founders of the Great Sacandaga Brewing Company has passed away after drowning in Fulton County.

NewsChannel 13 first reported on the drowning on Wednesday evening. We also got word around that time that brewery founder Eugene “Skipper” Stevens had passed.

State police confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Stevens was the victim.
He died after he was pinned under a lawnmower in Kennyetto Creek, police said.

The Great Sacandaga Brewing Company said he is being remembered as a man who always greeted people with a smile.
