A ceremony was held on Tuesday to remember drunken driving victims in Rensselaer County.

A ceremony was held on Tuesday to remember drunken driving victims in Rensselaer County.

It was all part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Two new names were added this year to the memorial – John Flood Sr. and Kevin Munn.

While these events are for the families to remember their loved ones, it’s still important to keep this issue in the public eye, Rensslaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly said.

“Throughout our lifetimes, as we become more and more aware of the obvious transgression of DWI, it doesn’t go away,” said Donnelly. “It’s a simple decision. DWI impacts everyone.”

The DWI Victims Memorial, the first of its kind in the state, was dedicated Sept. 8, 2000, the day a Troy teen, Allison Bodnar would have turned 19.

The memorial is located at the scene where the popular Troy teen was hit and killed by a drunken driver.
