Dry conditions increase wildfire risk in Berkshires

The Executive Office of Energy of Environmental Affairs is warning of increased wildfire risk in the Berkshires.

The Berkshires and the rest of western Massachusetts are experiencing the least amount of drought in the state.

They’re sitting at Level 2 – Significant Drought, while the rest of the state is at Level 3 – Critical Drought Conditions.

The office is warning of increased risk of wildfires, with below average rainfall this year.
