A Duanesburg man convicted of killing his wife and 5-year-old son was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nelson Patino was found guilty in Schenectady County Court back in October.

Patino’s lawyer tried arguing a COVID infection caused his client to commit both murders. The infection caused Patino to enter a state of psychosis that led to the attacks, the lawyer said.

A 2-year-old son survived.
