There's been an uptick in distraction burglaries in East Greenbush, police said.
East Greenbush Police are warning people about a scam in which burglars pose as electrical contractors to gain access to a residence.
Police say there has been a rise in this type of “distraction burglary,” when someone poses as a utility worker at the front door to divert a resident’s attention. The suspect’s associates then break into the home and steal valuables.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant.
