Fahy announces bid to replace retiring State Sen. Neil Breslin

Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy has announced she is running to take over the seat being vacated by retiring State Senator Neil Breslin.

Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy has announced she is running to take over the seat being vacated by retiring State Senator Neil Breslin.

Breslin is the longest-serving New York state senator.

Fahy made the announcement this weekend in front of a crowd of supporters. She currently represents the state’s 109th District and was unanimously endorsed by the Albany County Democratic Executive Committee. Assemblywoman Fahy is proud of her work, she said, but there is more to come.

“Whether it is housing, health care, higher ed, which can transform lives as it did all of ours, the energy to address these climate needs and climate challenges that you’ve heard so much about, I am proud of my track record,” she said, adding that there is much more to be done.

Fahy was the first woman to represent Albany in the New York State Legislature. If she’s elected to the Senate, she would become the first woman to represent the city in the upper chamber.
