An investigation is underway after a Delmar woman received a call from two people pretending to be police.

Mary Leigh Montesano picked up her phone one afternoon last month.

She spoke to someone who identified himself as a Bethlehem police officer.

He told her that someone was using her credit card information to purchase several items to make a bomb.

They asked her for her bank account information and Social Security number.

That’s when she got in contact with Bethlehem Police on her own, who told her this was a scam.

Montesano closed all her bank accounts to be safe, saying she is just happy things didn’t end up worse than they did.

Hear about the initial fear she had before she knew it was a scam – and the scary things the scammers threatened her with – by watching the video of Dan Levy’s story.
