Albany shooting case transferred to county court

The case of a man accused of giving a gun to a 14-year-old who fatally shot himself has been transferred to Albany County Court.

Ellazar Williams, of Albany, allegedly gave the gun to the teen, who was found dead last month from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police have not said if it was a suicide or unintentional.

Williams has been charged with criminal sale of a firearm to a minor, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of stolen property.

Williams is currently suing three Albany police detectives in federal court on the grounds they used excessive force. He was paralyzed in 2018 after being shot by police.
