FEMA offers tips to avoid house fires
As temperatures drop, it’s important to heat your home safely.
FEMA is offering some tips on how to keep your home intact during the winter.
Half of all home heating fires happen between December and February, they said. People should keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from heat sources.
People also should only plug one heat producing appliance into an outlet at a time. That is a reminder that the Scotia fire chief is echoing, after a fire started in the kitchen of a home on Tuesday morning, and killed three pets.
