COHOES – Fire crews returned to 50 Manor Sites Apartments in Cohoes Monday morning. It comes after a previous fire late Sunday.

Investigators say the second fire was sparked by a hotspot in a closet.

Sunday’s fire call came in shortly before 11 p.m. at 50 Manor Sites Apartments.

Fire Chief Joseph Fahd tells NewsChannel 13 that a woman who lives in apartment #51 made the call after her power went out. He says when she tried to reset her breaker, she smelled smoke.

A Facebook post from the Uniform firefighters of Cohoes says the department was joined by mutual aid units from Green Island, Watervliet and Watervliet Arsenal.

Fahd says the fire was knocked down by around midnight and units were wrapped by 12:31 a.m.

He says there is damage to both Units #50 and #51 and that power has been cut off to the building.

Cohoes Housing Authority assisted in helping anyone who needed relocating. There were no injuries and the cause is still under investigation.
