Fire displaces 23 people from Schenectady apartments
The Red Cross is helping 23 people who were chased from their home by a fire Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to 155C Jerry St. in the MacGathans apartment complex at around 9:30 a.m. There are four apartments inside the building. When they arrived, crews found heavy fire on the second floor.
Firefighters had to evacuate numerous people from the building – some of whom were resisting to leave.
Everyone was able to get out safely.
The fire was under control in about 45 minutes. The Red Cross is providing aid to four households
