NewsChannel 13 has learned the Montgomery County woman who was arrested for rape and other charges involving a minor was employed as a nurse with Fonda-Fultonville Central Schools before she was arrested Monday on felony charges.

Amberlynn Calhoun, 31, was charged with rape, criminal sex act and disseminating indecent material to minors. The address of the alleged rape and criminal sex act was listed on court documents as 112 Old Johnstown Road, the district building.

Court papers said Calhoun allegedly sent sexual images and videos to a child under the age of 17 using the social media app SnapChat.

Calhoun is also accused of having sex with the child over a period of time earlier this year, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday, the school district told NewsChannel 13 Calhoun was immediately placed on administrative leave and is no longer employed by the district.

Parents were notified Wednesday. Parents told NewsChannel 13 the tight-knit district of just 1,300 students, where schools operate under one roof, was shaken by the news.

The full district statement is below:

“On Monday, October 16, a Fonda-Fultonville Central School District employee was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Effective immediately, this employee was placed on administrative leave.  Currently, this person is no longer employed by FFCS.  The district has been working closely with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office during this investigation.  The district cannot comment any further due to this being an active investigation.”

This is a developing story.
