The State Capitol lost a former powerhouse in New York State politics.

Former state senator Howard Nolan, who served the legislature for two decades, has passed away.

According to the Times Union, who first reported the story, he died Saturday in Florida, at the age of 90.

That’s where the paper says he’s been living after leaving home in Delmar, Albany County, just last year.

His health had been declining for some time, according to family.
