Fort Edward’s police chief is resigning, effective Friday.

Justin Derway is stepping down after pleading guilty to filing a false instrument, which is a misdemeanor.

Derway and Sergeant Dean Watkins were accused of falsifying training records involving nearly a dozen police recruits.
