Funding granted to Rensselaer City School District for youth mental health

New federal funding will be used to support youth mental health in the Rensselaer City School District.

The district has been granted $1.2 million, which will be funneled into Project AWARE, according to the superintendent.

“We added a social media mental health specialist, because we all see an emerging trend where social media is actually eroding the mental health of our current generation., and we wanted to try to attack that directly” Superintendent Joeseph Kartash said.

In 2022, the Project AWARE program was recognized by New York State for the impact it had on student’s mental health.
