Gillibrand: 1,300+ illegal guns seized under new law

More than 1,300 illegal guns were seized and more than 200 people were sarrested under a new law that was sponsored by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

More than 1,300 illegal guns were seized and more than 200 people were sarrested under a new law that was sponsored by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

At least 190 of the seized guns were AR-15s or AR-style weapons. Authorities also seized at least 151 ghost guns, Gillibrand said in a statement.

Also, more than $750 million in federal funding has been distributed to support mental and behavioral services nationwide. That will fund over 14,000 new mental health professionals in schools.

This was part of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

“Making gun trafficking a federal crime was long overdue— BSCA is proof that Democrats are working hard to keep our communities safe, and that when Congress works together, we can make a difference on gun violence,” Gillibrand said in a statement.
