Glens Falls woman killed in fire
A Glens Falls woman was killed in a fire Wednesday night.
The fire broke out just after 9:30 p.m. at 39 ½ 4th Street. Glens Falls Fire Lt. Aaron Whorf said the victim had called 911 before she died in the fire.
Firefighters had to force open the door of the residence, which appears to be converted garage in between other houses. They were able to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes.
Whorf said that firefighters have assisted this woman before, but he did not give details. He described her as a geriatric female. Her name is being withheld at this time.
Police are still investigating the cause, but Whorf said it is not suspicious.
Glens Falls Police and the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad assisted at the scene.
