Glenville declares state of emergency

Glenville declares state of emergency for cleanup from truck that struck bridge.

The town of Glenville has declared a state of emergency as crews deal with the cleanup Thursday’s explosion.

A tractor-trailer struck the bridge just after 6:30 p.m., causing a large explosion.

Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle said residents should avoid Glenridge Road, Maple Avenue and Alplaus Avenue until further notice as the investigation continues and first responders remain on scene.

The declaration will assist the town in its ability to respond to the scene, provide resources over an extended period of time and waive certain administrative procedures to speed the town’s response.

The town’s senior center is also being made available for any resident who may be displaced from their home.
